Violins Under a Half-Moon

A teddy bear alone on a shelf

Instruments tucked in their case too long

Books still in their plastic-bound box sets

Gathering dust in an unopened closet corner

There is no sleep for the lonely

They turn their hopes to the sky

And listen for the violins in the distance

Music that weeps and mocks
